#GreenNewDeal IN THE NEWS

Massachusetts can’t get enough of the GND!

First, Ed Markey wins a resounding victory over a Kennedy (for the first time in State history) by running hard on his GND leadership, now, Mayor of Boston, incumbent Democrat Marty Walsh (who strongly endorsed Markey in the primary,) faces a tough race himself.

But this time, the challenger, Michelle Wu—a staunchly progressive Boston City Council Member—is the one who is quite literally running on her own version of a Green New Deal, for Boston. Wu just released the plan and it’s already making waves for its intersectional, justice-centered, approach, and incorporation of Pandemic recovery plans. Wu is not only the first Asian-American city-council person in Boston’s history, she would also be the city’s first mayor of color.

Keep an eye on this race—it could be another big test of the power and appeal of the GND, this time on the city-level.

HERE’S WHAT #GenGND IS READING (& LISTENING TO) THIS WEEK…

READ How Climate Migration Will Reshape America, By Abrahm Lustgarten in The New York Times & ProPublica—for a powerful reality check about the enormity, and extremity, of the shifts we’re now undergoing as a country because of the climate crisis.

LISTEN to OUR NEW SISTER PODCAST, INHERITED—for a wildly different, and equally compelling, perspective and stories from the Pelosi-Sit-In. You’re not going to want to miss the rest of their Capsule Season from our POD-MOTHERSHIP, the Critical Frequency Network (ALSO, SUBSCRIBE TO DRILLED & HOT TAKE NOW)

READ why Sunrise's Aracely Jimenez Wants Us to Care About Climate Change Like We Care For Our Abuelas, by Kelsey Garcia, in POPSUGAR— and learn how “The 23-year-old activist will explain how climate change disproportionately affects marginalized groups, and she'll do it in a way that is both accessible and intersectional.”

LISTEN to a new episode of The Lonely Whale’s 52 Hertz Podcast—w/ Zero Hour Co-Founder Zanagee Artis, for one of the best youth-climate interviews we’ve heard on a podcast…And we’ve heard A LOT.

READ about what it’s like to try Translating a Wildfire Emergency, by Yessennia Funes in ATMOS—an increasingly dire problem, when life-saving news is often reported only in English in places like California, home to millions of Spanish-speakers.

READ We have To Accelerate Clean Energy Innovation To Curb The Climate Crisis. Here’s How, by David Roberts in VOX…AND get ready to LISTEN to him on the #GenGND POD later this season, we had a great chat with Dave this week which we can’t wait for you to hear!

THANK YOU, POD-MOTHER!!

We’re so proud to be part of the incredible CRITICAL FREQUENCY family.
